Too Busy to Prep? Stay On Track with This

Recently we’ve seen the explosion of subscription services and you can get one for just about anything; wine, pet boxes, makeup, snacks, food… pretty much anything you can think of.

In fact, we are even partnered with one where you can sign up for a subscription service and get 6 bottles of paleo wine every month.

Because the wine subscription was so much fun it got us thinking and wondering about the services that provide food and so we wanted to try one and let you know how it turned out. The one that we went with was Sun Basket, as it promoted healthy meals made with non-GMO and organic ingredients.

And, if you know one thing about us, it’s that we love our food! We had so much fun with our box of food and really enjoyed it that we wanted to share our experience with you.

Not only was getting the box of food fun and the meals delicious, but it was also super simple to sign up and make! Trust me, even if you are not a whiz in the kitchen, you will be just fine and it won’t take long before you are serving up gourmet meals.

How Do I Get Meals Like This?

When you sign up, it gives you a menu you can choose from, such as Chef’s Choice, Vegetarian, Paleo, or Gluten Free. We, of course, went with the Paleo option and then chose our recipes from there.

In no time at all the food was on our doorstep with all the ingredients we would need already measured out. It had absolutely everything that we needed in it, including the detailed instructions that showed us step by step how to use each ingredient and cook the entire meal.

If you are someone that doesn’t like to cook, or you just don’t think you can cook anything more than your “basic” bland food, then this is for you.

I couldn’t believe just how good the meals were! Or just how easy it was to make them. I don’t consider myself the best cook, so when I was able to make meals that looked like they took a lot of work and tasted like they took a lot of work… I was shocked!

I felt like I was eating at an expensive restaurant that was located right in my own dining room.

How DoeMeal Planning Companies Help Me on a Meal Plan?

This is also a great alternative to eating out. Not only do you get to see just what is put into each meal, something that you don’t always know at a restaurant, but you also get restaurant quality food without the restaurant price. Each meal comes in at just under $12 a plate.

And what is great is you can choose whether you are sent a meal for two or four people. You can easily make this into a meal for a special occasion between you and a loved one, or a nice family dinner. And because you know every ingredient that goes into each plate, figuring out the macros is that much easier than a night out.

There are so many different options when you pick out your meals and everything you need is included right in your box that it takes away a lot of the stress you may have of planning an entire dinner or trying to stick to your meal plan while trying to enjoy a nice dinner out.

In fact, this can make is easy to fit right into your Custom Meal Plan. Much easier than trying to guess what is in your expensive restaurant meal or going through their nutrition guide.

So whether you are looking to lose weight, gain muscle, or just keep up your healthy lifestyle, you know just how you can fit this into your meals without sabotaging your goals.

This Supplement is Putting Fat, Stress, and Inflammation to Sleep

People always ask me what supplements and vitamins I take throughout my day to keep my body in top shape and to make sure that I stay healthy.

Whether you are someone that trains hard like me, or you are just looking to maintain that healthy lifestyle, supplementation can make all the difference in how you recover and how your body functions day-to-day.

Zinc and Magnesium are something I take every day, and one of the biggest reasons that I do is to help me sleep. Because I have such a hard time falling asleep at night and staying asleep, it has become one of my most essential supplements.

Not to mention these minerals are essential to your body’s needs.

Although deficiency in these two minerals is uncommon, it may be recommended to supplement for nutritional reasons, as well as to help treat and prevent certain medical conditions.

Zinc and Magnesium are both used for different things within the body.

Magnesium is vital to the function of your organs, including your heart, kidneys, muscles, and bones. It can be found in a wide variety of foods, such as leafy vegetables, nuts, seeds, potatoes, and chocolate. Deficiency in this mineral is usually due to medical conditions like viruses and digestive diseases. It can also be caused by excessive consumption of coffee, alcohol, soda, salt, and stress.

Zinc, on the other hand, can be found in foods such as red meats, poultry, whole grains, dairy, and beans. This mineral is used for growth and development. It is also vital to the health and function of your immune system and overall healing of your body. Deficiency in Zinc is caused by poor nutrition and over-consumption of alcohol.

Although most of us may not be deficient in Magnesium and Zinc, supplementing with it can be beneficial and help aid your body in functioning optimally.

TOP BENEFITS OF MAGNESIUM AND ZINC:

  1. Better Immune System – Studies show that zinc is crucial to our immune system. Not having enough Zinc in our system can make you more susceptible to infection, especially as you age. Supplementing with Zinc can restore your immune response within 2 months and can reduce the incidence of infection (1).
  2. Increased Testosterone – Supplementing with Zinc can help raise your testosterone levels, especially in males who are deficient and are producing less than they should (2, 3).
  3. Reduces Cramps – Taking magnesium can be beneficial if you suffer from nocturnal leg cramps. It can also help to reduce cramps in women who are pregnant (4).
  4. Improves Inflammatory Stress – Research suggests that people who suffer from chronic inflammatory stress can find some relief by increasing their intake of magnesium, especially those over the age of 51 (5).
  5. Reduced Cortisol Levels – A study published in the Journal of International Society of Sports Nutrition shows that an increased intake of magnesium can help reduce overall cortisol levels (6).
  6. Performance Enhancement – Magnesium can increase your performance by increasing glucose availability in the blood, muscle, and brain (7).
  7. Faster Recovery – Taking a magnesium supplement can help you get a better night’s sleep, especially for those who are suffering from insomnia by improving sleep time, early awakening, and sleep efficiency. Because sleep is connected to better and faster recovery, supplementing with magnesium can lead to faster recovery time (8, 9).

There are many different reasons why you should include a Zinc and Magnesium supplement into your daily routine, whether you are looking for an edge in your performance and recovery, better sleep, or a better immune system.

When searching for a Zinc and Magnesium Supplement, you will often find them combined together in a ZMA supplement. ZMA stands for Zinc Monomethionine Aspartate, Magnesium Aspartate, and Vitamin B6 and is often advertised as a recovery or sleep aid that is used by athletes and bodybuilders.

If you don’t want to take a supplement and want to make sure that you are reaching the recommended daily dose of Magnesium and Zinc, getting on a Custom Meal Plan can help make sure you are eating a nutritious diet that is sufficient in these vital minerals.

Our Custom Meal Plans are made for your body and your goals, using the foods you like to eat. These meal plans can also help to make sure you are naturally getting all the vitamins and minerals your body needs.

Even if you are eating all the foods that you should be to get enough Zinc and Magnesium into your system, or taking a ZMA supplement, if your gut isn’t healthy, it could lead to your body not absorbing enough nutrients from the food you are consuming and thus lead to a deficiency. Taking a supplement like X-Cell can help you with nutrient absorption and make sure your body is getting the nutrients it needs from the foods you are eating by helping to repair your gut lining. Supplements, and the food you eat are much more beneficial when you are able to absorb all the possible nutrients.

How Italians Make Tacos [Michael’s in the Kitchen!!]

Today we’re making tacos and if you’re like me, you LOVE tacos.

But as we know, they aren’t always the healthiest meal you could have, so we decided to make them from scratch with all natural, healthy ingredients. And boy, they are some of the best tacos I have ever had!

Being Italian, I don’t have a family recipe that has been passed down from one generation to the next and that’s why I called in some help. Take a look at the video below and watch as my friend Jose and I make tacos, including the salsa, from scratch! Trust me, by the end of this video, you will be gathering the ingredients to make tacos for dinner!

HEALTHY TACO RECIPE

Ingredients:

Grass-fed Ground Beef
Avocados (optional topping)
1 White Onion (optional topping)
1/2 Bunch of Cilantro (optional topping)

Tortillas:
1/2 cup Coconut Flour
4 large Eggs
1 cup Unsweetened Almond Milk
1/2 tsp Salt

Salsa:
8 Tomatoes
4-8 Chili Serrano Pepper (depending on how spicy you want it)
1 Clove of Garlic
1 Purple Onion
1 Lemon
1/2 Bunch of Cilantro
Himalayan Salt

Directions:

Beef:
In a skillet over medium heat, cook your grass-fed ground beef until fully cooked. Season with FlavorGod Seasoning taco seasoning.

Tortillas:
Whisk all of your ingredients together in a bowl until smooth. Let the batter sit for a couple of minutes to loosen. Your batter should be runny before cooking.

Heat a small skillet over medium heat and grease with olive or coconut oil. Pour 1/4 cup of your batter onto the skillet, rotating the pan so that it forms a thin circle and the batter is evenly distributed. Cover with a lid and let it cook for about 2 minutes, or until the edges begin to curl inward. Flip and repeat.

Salsa:
Finely chop your onions and cilantro.

In a pan on medium-high heat, char your tomatoes and chili serrano peppers until they almost look burnt. Add your tomatoes and peppers into a blender and pulse until mixed. Once blended, cut your lemon in half and add the juice from the entire lemon. Then add in your onions and cilantro and pulse until you reach your desired level of chunky. Salt to the desired flavor.

Once you have finished, you can finely dice the white onion and remaining cilantro together and/or carve up an avocado into cubes for delicious, healthy toppings.

Assemble your tacos and enjoy!
